Employee protection through early covid detection
Since the outbreak of the Corona virus a year ago, many things have changed in company processes. This is also the case at Gebr. Schwarz GmbH in Rottweil-Neukirch. In addition to extensive hygiene concepts, mobile office and the introduction of additional shift working hours, the company also offers Corona rapid tests for employees.
In fall 2020, a selected group of employees was trained by the company physician to perform a Corona rapid test in cases of suspicion or symptoms. In addition to training the employees, special hygiene concepts and a precisely described procedure with documentation were introduced for carrying out the test.
It quickly became apparent that performing the tests was becoming routine and could be easily integrated into operational procedures. The majority of tests have been negative. In the case of positive test results, the path prescribed by the authorities is followed. The employee must go into quarantine and undergo a so-called PCR test. We are glad that we have been able to test for a long time in order to offer our employees more security and to be able to deal more flexibly with attendance times, says HR manager Sabine Schuldis.
In view of the current discussion about making testing compulsory for companies as well, we consider ourselves very well prepared. As long as a large part of the workforce has not yet been vaccinated, the rapid tests are a very important component in dealing with the pandemic. This puts us in a position to interrupt possible chains of infection in the early stages.
