Gebr. Schwarz becomes 3rd winner
The award winners have been selected! For the fifteenth time, the German Energy Agency (dena) is awarding the prestigious prize to private and public companies that are taking innovative paths toward climate neutrality. A jury of experts from politics, business, science and the media evaluate submitted entries and projects according to the criteria: Energy savings, climate protection relevance, cost-effectiveness, and degree of innovation and transferability.
In the category "From clever to digital! - The bandwidth of energy efficiency", Gebr. Schwarz GmbH took 3rd place together with Sempact AG. The award went to the project for commissioning an innovative refrigeration system using a natural refrigerant for machine or tool cooling. The use of water as a refrigerant is still not very widespread but is highly relevant in terms of environmental/climate protection. In contrast to the previously frequently used HFC-based refrigerants, which have very high CO2 equivalents, water as a refrigerant is efficient and absolutely climate-neutral.
This modern plant also reduces the company's energy consumption, resulting in a saving of 150t CO2e/a emissions. The investment volume of the plant is approx. 300,000 Euro and is subsidized with 34% by the Federal Promotion for Energy Efficiency in the Economy (BAFA).
With this project we have taken another important step towards climate neutrality - says Managing Director Uwe Schwarz, who took part in the dena Energiewende Congress in Berlin, where the Energy Efficiency Award 2021 were handed over.
