BOGY internship week at SCHWARZ
Choosing a career is not an easy task for many pupils. The BOGY internship can help them decide on a career. It offers tenth-grade students the opportunity to get a taste of working life in companies of their choice. This year, two pupils from Leibniz Gymnasium in Rottweil completed their BOGY (vocational orientation at grammar school) at Schwarz.
The students first spend 6 afternoons in different areas of production and thus gain an insight into the company's processes. The second part of the BOGY is carried out in a full-time week in which a specific project is worked on. This year, the students have developed and built a hydroponics tower.
The “hydro tower” is an aeroponic system in which the roots of the plants hang in the air and are regularly moistened with a nutrient solution using a timer. The water droplets are distributed in a targeted manner so that all the roots are reached. The advantages of this system are low water and space requirements, as the roots are optimally supplied with nutrients and do not have to grow in search of water. The plant therefore needs less space to grow. As a result, more plants can be grown in a smaller space.
The project was a complete success and was presented to the public on July 5, the “Technology Day” at Leibniz Gymnasium in Rottweil. The two students Jonas and Colin did a great job and were able to gain valuable experience. We would be delighted if, in addition to the plants, new SCHWARZ workers grow from this project.
