New titrator platform from Metrohm

OMNIS is Metrohm's new, fully integrated titration system for the needs of today's laboratories. OMNIS is more than just a new titrator. Customer / - and laboratory requirements were the center focus of the product development in order to develop a titration that simply offers more: faster results, more safety, more comfort, more efficiency. In short: performance in a completely new quality.

Titration, also known as titrimetry, is a common laboratory method of quantitative chemical analysis that is used to determine the unknown concentration of an identified analyte. Since volume measurements play a key role in titration, it is also known as volumetric analysis. A reagent, called the titrant or titrator is prepared as a standard solution. A known concentration and volume of titrant reacts with a solution of analyte or titrand to determine concentration. The volume of titrant reacted is called titration volume (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titration)

Gebr. Schwarz was involved at an early stage of the product development and was able to contribute by the use of advanced simulation methods to an optimal design and product functionalities. From the beginning all components have been simulated and analyzed by deflection and filling simulation. The results from theory formed the cornerstone for the product design in regards of tool layout, manufacturing processes, assembly and a high quality demand.

A good argument for this new and successful projection is the fact, that no changes or correction loops were required in this product development. We have chosen together with our customer an approach which apparently looks elaborate, but finally it leads to less iterations and thus cheaper, faster and quality is higher - so R & D manager Andreas Artmayer.
